good-natured ribbing

in which various knitters engage in ribbing

one is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do

Not exactly second sock syndrome, but I have been jumping from project to project. I have 4 single items for which I need to make mates before I start anything else.

You see in the picture the cover mitten from Knit Mittens!; a baby blue Cornflower handwarmer from the 2006 Holiday issue of Interweave Knits; a green cotton crew sock; and one thrummed mitten from an earlier issue of IK. The thrummed mitten has been fun, and goes pretty quickly, so I’m not quite sure why I diverted into the handwarmers. Maybe because I have to create more thrums from roving and haven’t really sat down to do that part. Below is the mitten as it looked halfway done. The picture of the inside shows the individual strands of roving that will work their way into a thick lining as they’re worn. And yes, they are one of my belated Christmas presents, so I should hurry up and finish them.

  1. Thrumming looks like it makes some really cozy mittens! I can see how it can be a bit of a chore making the thrums though!
